I am Leigh Hitchcock, a registered yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance 200 hours qualification which I completed in 2009 with Brian Cooper on his well respected Union Yoga Ashtanga Teacher Training Course. In 2010 I was privileged to commence teacher training with my own teacher, Denise Martin-Harker of Aware Yoga which included 40 hours teacher training with Manju Jois, son of Shri K Pattabis Jois. Although this course is now completed, I am grateful for Denise's on-going support and the opportunity to study with exceptional teachers
I have been practising Ashtanga Vinyasa since 2005 and have been under the guidance of Denise since 2007. I have a dedicated daily practice studying with Denise and her teachers at every opportunity. I have been lucky enough to study with Manju in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and John and Lucy Scott in 2007 and 2009. In 2009 I studied with Sharath (Director of KPJAYI) on his European Tour in London.
Having found my own teacher who teaches traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga as she is taught by her teachers, I am keen to uphold this tradition and therefore offer mysore style classes around Norfolk.
Prior to becoming a yoga teacher, I worked in a variety of roles in Human Resources in both public and private sector but my heart always lay in the voluntary sector where I worked as HR Manager and laterally HR Director for Compass - Services to Tackle Problem Drug Use for 5 years. After much playing around with work/home combination I have now found the perfect balance being a mother to my two children and practising and teaching ashtanga vinyasa yoga.
I have taught ashtanga vinyasa mysore style since 2008 in Suffolk in my own home studio. In September 2011 relocated to Norfolk with my family and am looking forward to starting teaching mysore ashtanga vinyasa classes in the Norwich, Dereham, Swaffham areas initially with a view to starting classes on the North Norfolk coast in the future.
